Posted by: macmuseum

When: Thursday, November 15, 2012 to Saturday, January 12, 2013

Jeff Thomas
Mapping Iroquoia: Cold City Frieze
November 15, 2012 – January 12, 2013
Reception: Thursday November 15, 6-8 pm
Artist’s Talk: Friday November 16, 12:30 pm

Jeff Thomas' exhibition builds on 20 years of practice looking at photographic/filmic/archival stereotypes of First Nations peoples and representations of First Nations peoples as national monuments. The current project is Six-Nations-based and looks at warrior/male role models in Iroquoian society - past and present. Grounded in both personal and cultural history, Thomas' exhibition considers absence as both a root source and marker of identity.
