Breaking Black
November 15, 2012 – January 12, 2013
Reception: Thursday November 15, 6-8 pm
Artist/Curator’s Talk: TBA

As part of an on-going curatorial methods initiative, Toronto-based artist Nicole Collins has been invited to develop an exhibition from the McMaster Museum of Art collection along with her own work. Taking her cues from alchemy, and the assumption of an embedded and sometimes opaque narrative played out through material, process and colour, Collins has made a selection that includes work by Louis Comtois, Anselm Kiefer, David Nash and Sigmar Polke, and invited Czech-born Toronto artist Jiri Ladocha into the mix. The title Breaking Black is drawn from one of Collins’ recent works.
